WWW: 7 Reasons to get in shape that don’t involve fitting in to your swimsuit

It’s that time of the year. You think that Spring Break is done so the gym will start to be less crowded. Think again. Everyone is trying to look good in their swim shorts or bikinis (hopefully not because we’re all about modesty). And besides, if you can fit into a swimsuit, isn’t that good? Some can’t. It’s not all about your perfect beach body as everyone says it is. So how about some motivation that doesn’t involve that?

1) Get moving and sleep better, which causes your brain and eyes to be more aware and sharp.

2) You’re more productive. Refer back to the article I wrote about the busy people have the best workouts. And the reverse is true. You get active in the gym and the productivity overflows to the rest of your life.

3) Lowers your disease and sickness risk and live longer and be overall healthier.

4) Strengthen your bones and muscles, which helps you do everyday things easier.

5) Keep you happy and not depressed. Mostly because working out makes you feel good. If you’ve ever seen “Legally Blonde” you know the famous quote that Reese Witherspoon says: “I just don't think that Brooke could've done this. Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't.” Hopefully no one is on trial for killing their husband, but it is still true. Endorphins produce happiness.

6) Combat our genetic predisposition. Our genetic makeup isn’t always what will make up our destiny. Yes, it’s a huge factor but we can help keep it in check. For example, our diet and exercise regimen can help control our genes or help benefit them more. On this list, includes weight fluctuation. Most people would contribute this to bikini body, but it’s more of a health issue.

7) Because you want to (optional). I include this one because there’s so much pressure to look “in shape” or “fit” or “bikini body ready”. I for one am tired of it. It’s a bunch of crap. Do it because you want to, no other reason. It can be because you want to look that way, but not because others tell you. It can also be because you want to feel better, lose weight, get stronger, live longer, etc. But bottom line, do it for you, because no one else will be there enduring the work out but you!

Endu, break the mold. Be not of this world. Get in shape for more important reasons than looking good in a swimsuit! It is superficial and it is to be God’s temple, not home of the best looking swimsuit. Make this spring and summer’s workout more important
